CCAH PRICING
Similar to our efforts with CCRCs, A.V. POWELL & ASSOCIATES were the first consultants to apply actuarial techniques for pricing continuing care at home programs in 1985 as part of the concept development (also known as lifecare or continuing care without walls). Although derived from the managed care practices that were employed by CCRCs, we have developed a second generation model that reflects multiple levels of benefits and unique utilization patterns by members in regard to institutional care. We have monitored and updated the experience of our clients since their inception to adjust the actuarial assumptions that are used for the projection of future benefits. Recently our firm has pioneered the pricing for Type B CCaH contract provisions for several clients. We provide actuarial feasibility studies to determine focus group and initial marketed premium structures that meet ASOP No. 3 requirements for satisfactory actuarial balance. Also, annual updates to projections can be obtained by either subscribing to the CCaH version of our FORCAST software or engaging our firm for periodic actuarial reports.
